Story
of Ganesh Chaturthi
The Ganesh Chaturthi Festival has a long
and illustrious history. It is crucial not to look at the moon during
particular periods of Ganesh Puja Day, according to tradition. If a person sees
the moon, he will be accused of theft and humiliated by society until he
recites a specific chant. This is said to have occurred when Lord Krishna was
falsely accused of stealing valuable jewels. Krishna was cursed for seeing the
moon at Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi (the place where Ganesh Chaturthi fell),
according to the saint Narada.
Lord Krishna was wrongly accused of
stealing Samantakamani, a set of valuable jewels. The saint Narada told him
that he saw the moon in Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi, which created the
mithyadosha curse, after learning about Lord Krishna and his plight. Lord Krishna
was told by the saint Narada that he had been cursed by Lord Ganesh and
MithiaDosha. People who are cursed with this dosha will have their reputations
damaged and humiliated in society. Lord Krishna was advised by the saint Narada
to observe Ganesh Chaturthi and fast to free himself of the mithyadosha. Method
to Prevent MithyaDosha The restriction of viewing the month changes depending
on when Chaturthi begins and concludes.Even if one sees the moon by accident,
the following phrase should be chanted:
सिंहःप्रसेनमवधीत्सिंहोजाम्बवताहतः.
