Guru Purnima : Why are we celebrating it ? Relation Between Guru Purnima and Jupiter.

Guru Purnima is a tradition dedicated to all the spiritual and academic Gurus, who are evolved or enlightened humans, ready to share their wisdom with no monetary expectation, based on Karma Yoga.

This year, Guru Purnima will be observed on July 24th, 2021, on the full moon day of Asadha month.

The Puja tithi will start at 10:43AM on 23rd July & will end at 08:06AM on 24th July 2021

It is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal, and Bhutan by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. This festival is traditionally observed to honor one's chosen spiritual teachers or leaders. It is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) as it is known in the Hindu calendar. The festival was revived by Mahatma Gandhi to pay tribute to his spiritual guru, Shrimad Rajchandra. It is also known as Vyasa Purnima for it marks the birthday of Veda Vyasa, the sage who authored the Mahabharata and compiled the Vedas.

It is a day of infinite correlation. It is a day of supreme knowledge. It is a day of Brahman, it is a day of Guru, the fullness of Guru Dev, the fullness of pure knowledge. Guru is the expression of enlightenment, pure knowledge, the field of all possibility, the field of infinite correlation. In that supreme awakening, in that supreme awareness, in the state of supreme knowledge, we have wholeness of life, the absolute value of being, pure infinity, pure eternity, and pure immortality. It unfolds the full potential of knowledge and brings fulfillment in the master-disciple relationship and the expression itself in its totality. The full potential of all possibilities.

In the Jyotish Astrology spiritual master is represented by the Planet Guru(Jupiter). Guru is the significator of spiritual progress, good fortune, wealth and prosperity, children, education and knowledge. This renders this day highly favorable for progress in all spiritual and material fields.

Relation Between Guru Purnima and Jupiter

Jupiter is known as Guru in Vedic astrology, and he epitomizes the virtues of knowledge, wisdom, and intellect. In Vedic astrology, the Guru, sometimes known as Jupiter, is the most benefic planet. While Guru Purnima Day is largely about the teachers and mentors who have helped humanity rise beyond the darkness of ignorance and fear, Jupiter plays an important role in the celebration.

What is Jupiter's significance? The Sun is either in late degrees of Gemini or in the sign of Cancer in the month of Ashadha. Jupiter has a big influence on both cases. Meanwhile, the Moon is currently in the sign of Sagittarius. Jupiter is the ruler of the Sagittarius zodiac sign. In short, both the Sun and the Moon are influenced by Jupiter's attributes during Guru Purnima. Also, because the Ashadha Nakshatra is meant to provide Moksha, this combination must occur in the month of Ashadha.

In more scientific terms, Jupiter occupies a unique position in terms of interstellar travel. To escape the gravity of the Sun and reach the outer planets and beyond, the spaceships use Jupiter's gravity to slingshot their way to the solar system's farthest reaches. And, according to Vedic literature, one must seek the Guru's guidance to attain God!
